Bolivia’s President – Evo Morales: Dismiss Sacha Llorenti (former Minister of Goverment) as UN ambassador in order to take him to Trial for the repression of the 8th Indigenous March.
Nuestra Señora de La Paz, Bolivia, Plurinational State of
Dismiss Sacha Llorenti (former Minister of Goverment) as UN ambassador in order to take him to Trial for the repression of the 8th Indigenous March taken in Chaparina, for gagging hundreds of children, pregnant women, indigenous men and women of all ages.
Two years ago happened a brutal repression against the 8th Indigenous March in defense of their Indigenous Territory and National Park Isiboro Secure-TIPNIS in which we were detained illegally and violently by the police, they beat us down, handcuff, gag hundreds of children, pregnant women, indigenous men and women of all ages, and then we were conducted to an unknown location, probably to make us disappear, which was thwarted because people came to defend and rescue us from the hands of the police.
The problem arose when the government of Evo Morales decided, using the pretext, of the necessity to build a roadway, invade this protected territory that belongs to the tribes: Mojeña, T´siman and Yuracare. If the roadway is constructed the habitat will be altered consequently their lifestyle. The pressure has increased in recent times because the producers of the coca leaf has had a growth cycle and enjoy enormous economic and political power.
Despite the case of the current over two years of those violations of human rights, the perpetrators of those crimes have not been prosecuted and punished; Instead the law were promoted and rewarded by the government of Evo Morales as Bolivia’s as the case of the ambassador of Bolivia in the United Nations, Sacha Llorenti, which at the time was Minister of Government. This impunity is carte blanche for the government to continue harassing the indigenous peoples that live in this protected area coveted by producers of the coca leaf, that the President Morales, at the same time, is the leader of the “cocaleros” union.
